How MC Windows and Doors Excel Under AS 2047 Testing

Recently, three cornerstone architectural systems from the MEICHEN product portfolio—manufactured by Guangdong ACG Windows & Doors & Curtain Wall Co. Ltd—were subjected to stringent laboratory evaluations by Intertek, a world-leading Total Quality Assurance provider. Tested strictly against AS 2047:2014 (Windows and external glazed doors in buildings), all three products achieved “Pass” verdicts across every single evaluation criterion. Below is an in-depth, data-driven analysis of how MEICHEN engineering translates into world-class structural performance.

The Tested Portfolio: Specifications at a Glance

Intertek’s testing program analyzed three diverse configurations designed to meet varying structural spans and aesthetic demands:

Technical Performance Breakdown

1. Structural Wind Resistance (Serviceability & Ultimate Strength)

Wind load management determines the structural lifespan of external fenestration. Under AS 2047 protocols, components are measured by their deflection-to-span ratio under pressure, followed by an ultimate destruction test.

  • Ultimate Strength Resilience: All three MEICHEN models successfully withstood an extreme ultimate strength pressure of 2000 Pa with zero collapse, zero glass breakage, and no permanent deformation.

  • The ACG-100 Double Hung Window achieved a Serviceability Design Wind Pressure rating of 800 Pa (Rating N4/N3). Its structural meeting rail demonstrated minimal displacement, finishing with a superb deflection ratio of 1:817.

  • The ACG100-220 Sliding Door, featuring an ultra-robust 238mm frame thickness, easily mastered the 800 Pa (N4 General) wind pressure test. Its interlocking stile maintained immaculate rigidity with a tested deflection ratio of 1:454.

2. High-Efficiency Air Infiltration Control

Uncontrolled air leakage severely compromises a building’s HVAC efficiency. MEICHEN profiles are engineered with premium EPDM gaskets (supplied by HaiDa) and specialized thermal breaks (PA66+25%F nylon strips from Yile) to guarantee tight structural seals.

Tested under positive and negative pressures (±75 Pa), all three systems achieved Intertek’s “High” rating for air infiltration resistance:

  • ACG100-100 Sliding Door: Achieved an exceptionally low leakage rate of just 1.24 L/s·m² at +75 Pa.
  • ACG-100 Double Hung Window: Delivered balanced performance with 4.02 L/s·m² (+75 Pa) and 4.35 L/s·m² (-75 Pa).

3. Advanced Water Penetration Resistance

To combat heavy rain and tropical storms, windows and doors must rely on engineered drainage tracks and multi-layered sealants. MEICHEN utilizes Baiyun SS511 neutral silicone sealants alongside precisely plotted drainage ports to control water flow.

  • The ACG-100 Window and ACG100-220 Sliding Door successfully blocked all water ingress up to 300 Pa, earning a highly rated N4 (Exposed) / N5 (Non-exposed) classification.

  • The massive 5.4-meter-wide ACG100-100 Sliding Door successfully prevented water penetration up to 200 Pa, qualifying for an N3 (Exposed) weather rating.

4. Ergonomics and Operating Forces

A door or window can be structurally sound, but it must remain effortlessly functional for daily users. AS 2047 measures the initial force required to set a sash in motion and the sustained force required to maintain that motion.

Backed by premium architectural hardware from Caldwell, Kinlong, and Doric, the operating mechanics showed exceptional fluid movement:

  • ACG-100 Window: Required an initial opening force of only 110N (well below the 200N limit) and a maintaining force of 100N.

  • ACG100-100 Door: Both the left and right sliding sashes consistently stayed below the maximum thresholds, requiring under 172N for initial motion and maintaining movement at a comfortable 105N or less.

Conclusion: Verified Excellence for Global Projects

The data compiled across Intertek Report Numbers 220223081GZU-003, -004, and -005 confirms a singular conclusion: MEICHEN products represent premium, uncompromised structural quality under AS 2047 testing.

By choosing world-class raw materials—from tempered double glazing down to high-performance structural sealants and global hardware brands—MEICHEN delivers architectural solutions that reliably protect against the harshest elements. For your next project, specify MEICHEN with absolute confidence.
